Last autumn, I ran a series of Birmingham family photography Mini Sessions. I don’t get to do family photography very often, which is a shame! I’m often going on about the importance of those photos, and getting them printed whilst you can. Certainly where children’s photography is concerned, I love the chance to play and be silly, just like the kiddos. It’s the best way to reassure them, and avoid any meltdowns. Kids don’t want to be told to “smile for the camera”; they just want to be kids. They just want to have fun, go on adventures, explore…just be kids.
(And for the record, not ONCE did anyone say “please smile for the camera”..I’m just saying…)
This particular session with the Williams Family, in Kings Heath Birmingham, was a LOT of fun. The three children were brilliant from the start, once they realised they could just run wild! No restrictions, good outdoor family fun, lots of giggles, and no need to feel afraid of the camera. I loved capturing their personalities in the chilly autumn weather – runny noses, rosy cheeks, all wrapped up in winter coats and wellies.
Isn’t that how we want to remember our kiddos – exactly as they are?
I’m currently taking bookings for more family sessions in and around the West Midlands, and I’m making dates available for sessions further afield (there’s no additional fee for travel outside my local area within the UK!). Visit my Lifestyle and Family Photography page to find out more about what’s involved. And of course, please do get in touch if you’re interested in booking a session. Let’s have some fun and create some brilliant photo memories!
