When Ify and Max contacted me for their Phi Phi Island wedding photography needs, I just knew everything was going to be perfect. They told me their story, and I was sold. “It’s a big party, and we want to celebrate our wedding… We’re crazy and in love, and we want you to be there!” Dudes, how the actual hell could I say no to that? I connect with all of my couples. When we’re aligned, and share the same wedding ideals, you know the WHOLE wedding is BRILLIANT. Skype, phone calls, texts – whatever works. Connection is goooooood.
The added bonus – they appealed to my sense of adventure by telling me they were having a Thailand wedding. The destination: Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort. With an African theme, family from every continent around the world, the whole day would be on the beach… And there were to be no restrictions. The whole day was literally a free for all. In fact, the whole time spent on Phi Phi Island with this couple, and their loved ones, was some of the best times I’ve ever had. (And it totally supported exactly why it’s so important to me that I spend time with you before the big day. The better I know you, and the more you all know me, the more happy and relaxed everyone will be.
Ify and Max are so. Much. Fun. Everything was a laugh, and they were incredibly chilled out the whole day. Add in the fact that they’re gorgeous inside AND out, and their generosity seemed limitless. (Gin tonics, and Pad Thai…HEAVEN.) I remember stepping out to the sea for a wide angle shot (and to cool my roasty toasty feet) because I needed a 30 second time out to absorb everything.
Flights booked, accommodation sorted, bags packed, I prepared myself for the longest destination wedding journey I’ve taken so far. 6,235 miles is a long way to go. But there was no doubt that every step of the way was absolutely worth it. I don’t need to tell you about what happened – I’m a fan of telling stories in full via my photos. So get a coffee and get to scrolling!
MASSIVE thanks as always go to everyone involved. Including (but not limited to!) my favourite film lab, Carmencita Film Lab. Almost all of these images are shot on film! So thanks go to my FIND In A Box family, too. Also, Jacqueline and Chike Nwobu, the amazing co-founders and editors in chief of Munaluchi Bride. Every single friend and family member of Ify & Max.
And of course, Ify & Max themselves. Love and congratulations to this wonderful couple!
