Last year, I didn’t do one of these posts. I didn’t “sum up” my 2012 wedding photography, because I was so set on what 2013 was going to bring. Annnnnnnd boy did 2013 bring SOMETHING. In fact, I’m pretty sure it brought almost EVERYTHING.
Including: a Liza Minelli style pregnancy session (NOT me I hasten to add), official tog for Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza, a fire-breathing jester, loads of film photography, 5 generations of one family in one photo, international photography (I’m coming back for you, Europe, I’m coming back for certain), glittery bunny ears, a Tardis, custard pie splats, features on wedding blogs (Boho Weddings, Bespoke Bride, Whimsical Wonderland Weddings), photographing one of my favourite artists (I heart you, Lawrence and Heather), my photos featured in Mollie Makes magazine, successfully running TWO of my own workshops (ready for next year, Home Barn?), photographed all 19 members of one family in one go, my first and wonderful civil partnership, and, and, and ALLL THE THINNNNNGSSSSS.
Not to mention, my target of 15 of the most incredible weddings ever, with the most supportive friends I have had in a LONG TIME.
So yeah. It’s been pretty good, y’know?
The photos below aren’t to show off “my best work”. They’re actually more of a reminder of the best (and worst?) moments for me. Reminders of everything from laughing until I gave myself a headache, stomach ache and maybe threw up a little bit, right through to crying until physically, I could just cry no more. Times when I’ve questioned myself and all I do, wondering if I’m doing it right. Times when I have absolutely no doubts about what I do, when someone says to me, “Omg JAYYYY!!! You’ve made me look GORGEOUS!!!” (I did no such thing. I just showed you what you look like. I don’t get on well with Photoshop, to be honest). There are people in these images who are no longer with us. There are others who have brought new lives into the world. It’s been a roller coaster, I can say that for certain.
I have massive
dreams plans and aspirations for 2014, of course. I already have Austria, France, Spain and Los Angeles in my mind. In the last 24 hours I’ve just booked an international wedding. I have creative ideas bursting to go. I have some big changes coming to my business (new brand name coming very soon…). And I have my awesome and incredibly wonderful friends to cheer me on, like they’ve already done this year. I can’t tell you how much you all rock.
See you in the new year dudes! xxxx
