I blogged the sneak peek of Amsterdam couple, Sarah & Hans’ wedding in Bath, a few months ago. I quite literally had to force myself to NOT post all the images in one go, because there was just so much damn awesome.
I headed down to the beautiful countryside of Farmborough in Bath, to photograph Sarah and her girls getting ready, and Hans enjoying a pint (or 2) with his chaps in the pub. The church was only 2 minutes from their house…and that’s when the fun started. Waiting with Hans and the bridesmaids at the church, Sarah was running nearly 45 minutes late – the wedding car had broken down. So the company sent another one! Of course. And er, that broke down too. Sarah finally arrived in her make-up artist’s car, much to everyone’s relief. (During the ceremony, I was told another car had been sent to take them on to the reception venue. Pffft.)
By the time the ceremony was done, we had no time for portraits. So I told them I would follow them straight to the venue. Yeah…we got 50 metres from the church before the car broke down. AGAIN. “Sod it”, I said, “it’s time to intervene”. So I put them in the back of my car and drove them to their home myself. I knew they had plenty of champagne left, and I’ll be damned, their day was NOT to go down the pan. Then followed literally necking a bottle of champagne, and some cute photos in their garden, with their gorgeous church in the background. YAY!
Lo and behold, ANOTHER wedding car turned up to take them to the reception venue. By this point I couldn’t decide if I was in awe or disbelief with the car company. HILARIOUS.
Hans and Sarah had chosen to have their wedding reception at Park Farm, Newton St. Loe. Hans had “warned me” about The Marquee Experience. And holy crap, that man was not exaggerating. It was amazing. My chin hit the floor. I’d never seen anything like it, but I would LOVE to see it done again. And at the end of having spent the day with an awesome bunch of brilliant people, it was only right to face the competition on the dance floor. These guys could party, and party hard is what they did.
The whole day was brilliant and funny and gorgeous and hilarious and there was a dude with a raccoon tail. Hans, Sarah, and their bridal party were all FIT. There’s a bajillion photos and I’m not even sorry. This wedding was awesome, and this couple were brilliant. And did I mention The Marquee? And did you see Sarah’s shmexy dress? And Hans’ raw silk tailor made suit? HOT HOLY DAMN.
Hans and Sarah, you were a brilliant example of How Not To Let A Ton Of Crap Take A Dump On Your Day. Thank you so much for inviting me to share your day. Big love to you El Duderinos. 😉 xx
