The “Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza” wedding show. When I first saw those words being bandied around on Facebook about a week ago, I can’t tell you how fast I started investigating this little nugget of interest. A wedding show described as an “eclectic wedding extravaganza” sounded brilliant. In light of my recent brand overhaul, I have spent considerable time shaking up my style in photography too. One word which I know can be applied to me and my personality is “eclectic”. And then they have the tagline “don’t be a wedding sheep”. I swear, it was like the mother ship of weddings was calling to me.
I was sorely tempted after seeing that is was being held just up the road from me at Fazeley Studios in Birmingham. A little gem of a location, hidden in the backstreets of Digbeth, and serves as a wedding venue too. After some more info digging, I discovered one of my photography idols, Shelly from Toast of Leeds was actually going to be there with a stand and everything. Bandwagon? Jumping on? You bet your little tushy I did, grabbing the opportunity to help her out for the day. Grabbed my camera bag and headed on over to Digbeth.
I had no idea what to expect, but I tell you what, I think I just about LOVED everything I saw. (Spot the unmistakable, hilarious and crazy Kat from Rock n’ Roll Bride, too.)
I spent faaaaaaar too much time over at Revivemeboutique’s stand. Where I purchased a stupidly cool dragon ring. And some other bits and pieces.Ava Event Styling kitted out the café with some flipping brilliant designs and ideas. Candy buffets with a difference (pink punk and safety pins? For sure.), Marvel comic figurines in goldfish bowls alongside the actual goldfish, hand made cookies with fabulous detail. Just brilliant. And then what’s a wedding show without having a fashion parade? These epic designs are thanks to The Couture Company.Different styles, different people, different brands, all of whom were doing their own thing in their own style.
HUGE props to Sassy, Jo and Vikki, the ladies behind the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza. I seriously hope this becomes a regular event, because lord knows it was absolutely brilliant. I’ve only mentioned a tiny selection of my favourites here, but go visit the site where EWE have loads more info. (See what I did there? Sorry..couldn’t help it. Baaaaa-d joke.)
