Lickey Hills Cello Photo Shoot In the Woods (with Jay Emme and UK Film Lab)

I don’t often do posts which are all about me. But this one, really is all about me…and my cello.

I played professionally for many years, and “retired” shortly after I had Big Small, 7 years ago. Of course I still pick it up and play once in a while, and I’m actually stoked that I’ve been invited to become cello teacher in residence at The Smalls’ private school. Like, AHHHHHHH so exciting!! And such an honour, which I wasn’t expecting.

Last year, I put out a request that I’d love to do a photo shoot with my cello. After all the years of performing, and the many (maaaaaannny) concerts I did, I hadn’t actually got a decent photo of me with my cello. The only thing was, I wanted the images shot on film. Erica Ward, of  UK Film Lab, jumped up and was totally on board for making it into a little project. So off we went, to the gorgeous Lickey Hills (one of my favourite locations), armed with film, cameras and a cello…and this is what happened.

Huge thanks to Erica for these stunning photos…I bloody love them. xx

PS It’s UH-MAY-ZING playing your cello in the woods. That sound, travelling through the trees and over the hills…so damn cool.
