Ohhhhh my days. Scampston Estate is STUNNING. I hadn’t come across it before, and have since found out that they only have a tiny handful of weddings per year. Sophie and Richard’s summer rustic Scampston Hall wedding was one of those weddings. This stately home is one of the finest regency country houses in North Yorkshire, and is also a family home. Hence, a small number of weddings. I also did a bit of research and discovered a number of rustic Scampston Hall wedding fairs, which are worth looking into. If you are fortunate enough to get your request in early, you definitely won’t be disappointed. You can choose to have your whole day at the venue, however, Sophie and Richard headed off to the groom’s parents’ private farm estate for the reception.
The garden marquee wedding reception was styled by Home Barn – and it looked AMAZING. I’ve been a massive fan of the Home Barn team for quite some time. If you don’t know who they are, you should totally visit their website and check out more of what they have to offer. They’re based in Marlow, and I did a photography workshop there a few years ago. There’s so much to see in there! They worked together with bride Sophie, completely personalising and styling the marquee interior and exterior, and it was pretty much perfect. (It also helped that one of my favourite wedding caterers was also on the scene – really love Friends For Dinner! *drool*)
I loved how the colours all tied in together, too. Rich navy blue outfits, with hints of ivory, blush pink, and gold, all looked incredibly smart. Joanna Keely did an amazing job with the flowers – they were so pretty!
You know, the whole day was just perfectly styled, for an awesome couple. Totally laid back and down to earth, like so many of my couples. Even late at night, they were still happy to head outside for their amazing “finale” shot. Richard’s father had made and decorated an archway especially for the day. I wanted to take advantage of it – what better opportunity than a dramatic photo in the dark? Awesome.
I loved shooting this wedding, it was nothing short of ace. Huuuuge thanks to all the suppliers whom I worked with for being so lovely. Eternally grateful to Carmencita Film Lab for my lush film scans (I shoot on film cameras! Want to know more? Read here, or get in touch.) And of course, massive congratulations to Sophie and Richard on their amazing wedding day! xx
