One of the advantages to second shooting, is having the chance to enhance my skills as a wedding photographer. I’m still very much working for the primary photographer, and in this case it was the ever patient, and very lovely, Claire Penn. But there are a few moments when I can whip out my beautiful Bronica or my lovely little Yashica, and shoot some film. And I LOVE to do that.
There’s something gorgeous about film wedding photography, and not just in the end results. I love that it makes me slow down and pay even closer attention to what’s going on around me. Many photographers whizz through the day in a blur. Me? I like to slow down when possible, and see exactly what’s going on. When I can do that, I know that my gorgeous couples will do just the same. And not just during that portrait session after the ceremony! The whole day is SO important. I’ll bet one of your friends or family will remind you to “slow down and look around, take it all in” at some point. That’s just what I do. I help you do it too.
Anyway, I’m doing that nostalgic dreamy rambling thing. I can’t help it! I’m a wedding junkie, I can’t deny that. So here are a few shots I took at Iscoyd Park wedding venue, in Wrexham. I LOVE the piano in the woods (how cool is that??). And the bride’s Jenny Packham dress was so cute and perfect for her. All film, and all thanks to UK Film Lab for processing. I’d love to know what you think!
