Stanbrook Abbey – 16th Century Monastery, Worcestershire
Every so often, a wedding venue comes by which goes on my “hit list”. And the desire for some Stanbrook Abbey wedding photography is very high on that hit list. Like so many people across Worcestershire, I heard them on the radio. One quick Google search, I was smitten!
The place is just STUNNING. Historical building fused with modern refurb, it’s just amazing. Starting out as a Georgian manor house in 1755, its residents created the church, cloisters, towers and more. More recently, 2015 saw the completion of 51 new suites, and 19 function rooms. I treated some lovely clients of mine to a bit of portrait photography. We were given a map on arrival, which was pretty cool and absolutely worth it. Hidden gems and discoveries lurked around every single corner – the whole place is deceptively huge.
It was pouring with rain when we visited Stanbrook Abbey, but that didn’t spoil things. Instead, being restricted to staying inside presented more opportunities to make the most of the venue. It meant sneaking into rooms and doing a bit of exploring…
Wedding Rooms and Reception Halls
I LOVE that Stanbrook Abbey has a range of spaces available for events. It’s easy to get lost in a huge venue if you have an intimate wedding. But this place has loads of extra rooms, perfect for your wedding whether it’s large or small. A beautiful abbey chapel, various dining halls, even a huge marquee, stretching out into the lovely gardens.
The furnishings are so damn cool. Loads of history, dotted with perfect modern styling.
And this guy, along with his friends, kept showing up all over the place…
Stanbrook Abbey Featured Photo Shoots
I discovered plenty of space, features and locations for photo shoots. If you’re getting married there, it’s also perfect for your pre-wedding photo shoot. Here are a couple of my favourite photo sessions so far at Stanbrook Abbey.
