Styled Gothic Wedding Photography – Dark Shadows

Waaaaay back in March this year, Shelly from Toast of Leeds said she needed someone to drive up to Harrogate with some models. She was planning a styled gothic wedding photography. Now, I’d already been stalking Shelly for a while, so I was very tempted to offer to do the drive from Birmingham. I travel for weddings anyway! If I’m honest, Shelly terrifies me a bit because she is ridiculously talented, but then when she said I could stay and maybe take some photos (as long as I didn’t get in the way), I HAD to get over myself and jump on board. A bit of gothic wedding photography, styled by someone who is a bit brilliant? Um, yes please.

I was So. Not. Disappointed.

She had just about everyone and everything you could think of. Check out the incredible “paper cape” and the absolutely stunning gothic wedding dresses from Ian Stuart. There were other photographers already there, so I tried to lurk out of the way as much as possible. But seriously, when you’ve got an incredibly meticulously designed set up like you’re about to see, I just couldn’t step back. I had never considered gothic wedding photography before. I would do it again. Without fail.

I thought I would blog this close to halloween, for those brides thinking outside the box and looking for halloween wedding ideas. It’s so easy to make it incredibly classy and stylish. (And yes, I will gladly go about doing some gothic wedding photography, or halloween wedding photography for you.)

INSANELY HUGE thanks to Shelly and her immense team for allowing me to lurk in the shadows and capture the images below!! …you’ll be doing another shoot soon…right?

Magazine worthy shots. Honestly. Gorgeous.

Thank you Kat! If it was my own styled shoot, I think I’d be sending it to every magazine on the planet…

Wow! Stunning images and I am in love with those dresses!!!

Thank you! The dresses were AMAZING – I’d love to photograph a wedding with the bride wearing an Ian Stuart dress…

Gorgeous! Gothic can be so overdone but this is beautiful. And I love that little gargoyle.

I agree, CC. Shelly styled it PERFECTLY – I was so lucky to be on this shoot with her! Hope she does another one soon…

These are awesome! the cape is phenomenal!

Isn’t it, Emma?!? My photos don’t do it justice; the cape is INCREDIBLE. The detail was nothing like I had ever seen, and it was so delicate! I’d love to see something like it again soon!

Dude! Seriously great work there (even if I did scare the pants off you be yelling at you for getting in my way! haha). You were lovely to have around – as always – and I’m really glad you enjoyed yourself and managed to grab some great shots in the process. Well done. xx

Thank you Shelly! It was great to be there (scared or otherwise) – I can’t thank you enough for letting me stay and take photos! xx

Jay dude these are gorgeous! you got some great stuff here. 🙂
